Greg Dalton Insurance Inc. began as a scratch agency in a District Office of Nationwide Insurance in Chapmanville WV officially November 1989. Scratch meaning we had no clients, files, or office space of our own. I begin Greg Dalton was given a small salary and could bonus if sales met a certain level in premiums. Nationwide furnished the space, furniture, and phone. There was no staff but the agent and there was a lot of hard work to do. The Agency did well. Hard work and creating a relationship with the client had paid off. However, there were times I didn't make enough to pay my bills. I dreamed of the day that I would have people working, multiple offices, and a large clientele of friends and family but it seems a long way off. Perseverance became our biggest asset. After 2 years more or less, we needed a full time employee for service and to answer the phone. The first hire was Wendy Williams, who worked in the agency until she retired in 2011 after more than twenty years of service. We moved into our own location in Chapmanville's west side soon and worked very hard and had success. The agency attained Champion Award several times and that allowed me to visit places like Toronto, Marco Island, The Bahamas, Haiti, Cozumel Mexico, Jamaica, and a chance to be with the most successful insurance producers in the country. I bought half the Agent Chuck Tinder's business in Logan when he passes suddenly and Howard Wooten bought the other half. Today we have 2 locations. We have 4 people including me and continue to build on establishing relationships with our clients. I have Lois Grigg in Chapmanville, and Jeremy Vallet and Jessica Estrathers in Logan. I have my wife Kathy, sons Jason and Derek, and 4 grandchildren. Greg Dalton and Greg Dalton Insurance Inc. both were built from the ground up with strong family and relationship values.
